North East, PA (June 11, 2014): Race to Read Night at the Races presented by HealthAmerica and Fox66 featuring NYPAMA Midget Series sponsored by Bonnell's Collision is on the card for this Saturday night, June 14th, as the 2014 Season Fueled by Kwik Fill swings into high gear at Lake Erie Speedway! Race to Read is a program that benefited over 5,600 participating children this year.
The New York/Pennsylvania Midget Association TQ Midgets will be at the speedway for their first appearance of the season in Northwest Pennsylvania. The Mighty Midgets are powered by Kawasaki and Suzuki engines and are single-seat open-wheeled and three quarters the size of standard midget racecars. And they are fast!
The Plyler Overhead Door Modifieds, NASCAR Street Stocks, U.S. Legend Cars, INEX Banderlos, and NASCAR Compacts will also be on the schedule with a standard racing card for each division.
Randy Culver, without a win, leads the Plyler Overhead Door Modified division standings over Eric McCray by a mere three points. Chris Briggs trails McCray by only another seven points.
With two wins in two features Dave Krawczyk holds a substantial 28-point lead over Russ Conti in the NASCAR Street Stock division. Ed Hall trails Conti by another 14-points.
Only two points separate the leaders of the NASCAR Compact division points race. Jeff Breads, winner last Saturday, leads opening night winner Jim Tobin by the slim margin. Only five more points back in third is Philip Powell.
Brandon DeBrakeleer is dominating the U.S. Legend Cars, winning both features this season in convincing style. Jeff Dunfee III trails the leader by 17 markers with Carl Vilardo IV a single point back in third.
Defending champion Matt Mead has not yet won an INEX Banderlos feature this season but leads Donald Buell by eleven points. Daniel Buell is currently third with a six point deficit from the runner-up spot.
Following the racing entertainment Saturday a fireworks display will be presented on the backstretch.
Grandstand Gates open at 5:00pm, Heat Races Begin at 6:00pm, and Feature Races Begin at 7:05pm. Tickets are $13 for adults, $8 for children 6-12 years old, and kids 5 and under are free.
